Happy New Year! I cannot believe it is already 2018. I feel like this year went by SO fast and the holidays ended in a blink of an eye. But… on to 2018!!! I have a good feeling about this year, but before I jump in to my resolutions, let’s reflect on 2017.
2017 was a great year. Plain and simple. I learned more this year than I have my entire life. Starting a new job, living in a new city, making new friends, etc., there has been endless lessons. Living in San Francisco has been amazing, but I am not going to sugar coat it and say it’s perfect. It’s hard living half way across the country from all friends and family, and essentially I just have Zach and Cooper. Its hard to explain to people who have never moved out of our southern bubble, but it is VERY different going from Dallas to San Francisco (as you can imagine). It was tough. But we are happy we’re here and I still pinch myself every time I step outside and see the Golden Gate. Not many people get to have the Golden Gate & Pacific Ocean as their backyard.
I also landed my dream job in 2017! Well.. technically end of 2016, but let’s count it as 2017. I still feel like I am dreaming every time I say I work for Sephora Headquarters. If you would have asked me about this job in college, I would have laughed and told you I was moving back to Dallas to just figure it out. But senior year of college when Zach said he wanted to take a job in San Francisco, I said… let’s do it! Moving here without a job was super scary, but it is incredible the plan God has for you. I’ve said it before in my Moving to San Francisco post, but it was SO lonely here without a job. It was just me a Cooper, all day every day. Not friends. No family. No Zach since he was always working and traveling. It was incredibly hard. But one day, I miraculously got in touch with the right people at the right time, and everything just fell in to place. I could not believe it. During my interviews I didn’t even feel like I took them that seriously because I was thinking to myself the entire time, “there is no way I will get this job.” But here I am. I would work for free, and am grateful for every day I get to wake up and go to work in the buying office of Sephora HQ. It is a complete dream. I come home with buckets of products, employee discounts, get to work with the amazing brands, and get to work for a company that stands for so many amazing things. Would not trade it for the world.
In 2017 I also got to go to Cabo and Pebble Beach/Carmel (which is big for me, since you all know I refuse to go out of town and leave Cooper). I started getting into Soul Cycle (which I love). I had ups & downs with my hips, but I got injections over Thanksgiving and finally have ZERO pain (a year and a half in the making). I got to blog more than I ever have. I got to go salmon fishing twice and let me tell you…. great experience, but will never do it again. I got to go to Napa multiple times (Dear baby lord Jesus, thank you for letting me be 1 hour away from Napa). And most importantly, I got to make amazing memories with the people I love. Here’s to an amazing year!
2018 I am SO ready for you!!! 2018 just sounds good, am I right? Maybe because it’s an even number? Lol I don’t know! But I am looking forward to a new year, a fresh start, and hopefully I can stick to my number one resolution: WORKING OUT/EATING HEALTHY! Okay I know…so cliche. But if you know me, then you know this is a crucial necessity. I eat like a 5 year old, I never want to work out, I never want to do anything, aka time to get my life in order. I am planning to keep up with Soul Cycle but also start back up the BBG Kayla Itsines workout plan. Anything I can do from home I love. But it’s not just the working out… it’s the eating. I am the worst eater ever. I eat so unhealthy, I eat at all hours of the day, and I never thought it would actually take a toll on my body. But then I started a full time job of sitting all day…. and man, I sure wish I started this sooner. But we have a new year ahead of us, and I plan to get back on track! My other New Years resolution is to travel more. I hate leaving Cooper, so it is my goal to stop worrying so much, and just go live my life. Hoping to plan as many trips as possible and not fret the entire time I’m gone. What are some of your New Years Resolutions? Leave a comment below!!
Also below you will find a short survey. I would love if you could take it and let me know what you want to see more of in 2018. Please be honest and feel free to leave any feedback you have! No feedback is bad feedback. Let me know what you want more of, less of, etc.! Thank you so much!
I also quickly wanted to talk about this adorable outfit. I have been dying for camo denim and I finally snagged a pair! I paired them with my favorite turtleneck, and my classic nude pumps. My denim is also 30% off right now and they are so comfortable and stretchy. Highly recommend! I also am about to order this turtleneck in a few other colors. I wear this black one literally every day, so I think it is time to get a couple more. They come in other great amazing colors like cream, navy, hot pink, etc. I promise you need it in your life! XOXO
